Cassie is a model, R&B singer and sometimes rumored girlfriend of Diddy, she showed off her new edgy look with a half shaved head. Cassie first posted the pics on her Twitter account then later debuted her new cut at club Promenade in New York City on Friday. She wrote on her Twitter account saying "Sometimes in life, you need a change." I find it interesting when anyone does something different or surprises people. I like it but in the celeb obsessed world we live in I question her motive and think possible publicity stunt? Cassie will probably be labelled as a risk taker or cutting edge but in reality if you look at the pics she has her hair parted so it could easily fall over and keep her shaved hair hidden.

On the second season of Global’s reality series Project Runway Canada, we had to say goodbye to Brandon after only four episodes. Brandon stood out from the other cast members for his creative designs, not knowing legendary designers, and smoking lots of cigarettes in between. I had a chance to interview Brandon and ask him a few questions.

Paul: Hey Brandon, I want to start by asking what was your last favorite fashion purchase?

Brandon: My shiny black high tops!

Who is your fashion icon?
YSL..just kidding!!! I would have to say I J'adore Angelina's style right now

What designers do you love at the moment?
Zac Posen, Wayne Clark, and Oscar De La Renta

Favorite Fashion blog?
Is this a trick question? I try not to read fashion blogs, so it’s hard to say.

Did you always want to be a designer?
The idea of being a fashion designer never popped into my head until I was 18. But in a way I have always been designing womens clothing just through different mediums.

What did you think of being on the show and did it meet your expectations?
I thought it was a great experience, and it definitely was everything I thought it was going to be and more.

What was the most difficult part being on the show?
It was extremely difficult coming up with a solid idea and creating your idea to the fullest extent in such limited time frames. But, that’s the whole idea of the show right?

How was it watching yourself on television?
I thought it was way too funny! I couldn’t stop laughing!!

Who were you closest to on the show? Any lasting friendships made?
I’m extremely close to Jessica Biffi, I think the friendship we have will last forever. She is an amazing person and an extremely talented designer.

About your last episode, did you feel the show accurately showed what really happened?
I think they did a great portrayal of what occurred during the taping of that episode. The only thing I was slightly upset about was that they made it out to seem I did not know who YSL was...which was not the case, I just was not overly familiar with his work.

At elimination you were put on the spot for not being familiar with YSL, if you could go back would you have said anything different to Iman and the other judges?
I would have just stated that I am a fashion designer, not a fashion history major, so I should not be expected to know every designer that has ever lived.

With so many big personalities in the house, from an insider’s perspective what was the dynamic of the contestants?
I think Kim, Genevieve and Jason all worked off one another to make fun of the other contestants, that was their deal.
The rest basically were there to make the best out of the opportunity.

So what are you doing now?
Just launched my fall/winter 09/10 collection, which I have fortunately received rave reviews. Now I’m going to take a mini break, go to nyc for a little while to design my spring/summer collection for next season!

Who inspires you?
My best friend Andi Muise inspires me. Her beauty on the inside and out, pushes me to design clothing that is suited for beautiful women such as herself!

Final question Brandon, what advice do you have for young designers who are trying to break into the fashion industry?
My only advice to new designers, is to really make sure it’s what you want. To make it anywhere in this industry you have to push harder than you think even possible. I have spent countless days and nights without sleep to make it to where I am, with very little money being made. I think if your passionate about what you do, you will make sacrifices, and make the best out of every opportunity.

Kidman gets points for going a bit gothic at the usually predictable Country Music Awards red carpet.

Whoopi sounded off on 'What Not To Wear' host Stacey London and TV Guide writer Ingela Ratledge, who Whoopi called an "anonyomous bitch." Whoopi unleashed on the women after they insulted her wardrobe, Stacey London saying Whoopi looks like she comes to work like she is on her way to Costco. Its obvious Whoopi is not inspiring too many people with her sartorial choices but it is clear that she is being herself. I like the fact that Whoopi is not trying to be something she's not and she proves to be an individual. I think Anna Wintour said it best when Barbara Walters asked her "what is fashion?" and Anna replied "Jeans and Tshirts can be equally as fashionable as an Oscar de la Renta Dress." So there you have it. Stacey London dresses people completely by the book and if everyone dressed by the rules then fashion would never evolve into what it is today. Just think, women would still not be allowed to wear pants if someone didn't go against the grain.

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is the wife of French President, Nicolas Sarkozy. Carla is a retired model, singer and one time girlfriend of Mick Jaegger. Oh yeah, and a nude photo scandal that caused controversey but did not have much effect on her public image. She is the darling of fashion houses in France and Vanity Fair dubbed her the next Jackie O. Michelle and Carla met today in Strasbourg, France for the Nato summit. Michelle is wearing a floral print coat by Thakoon and Carla is wearing a grey Dior belted trench. They are both wearing pussy bow jackets with similar hem lines. This was probably planned, possibly to show unity after it was rumoured that Carla was not present at the G20 Summit in London because Michelle would take the spotlight from Carla. We highly doubt this rumor. I'm not feeling Michelle's floral print jacket but she takes it off and reveals a Thakoon magenta dress that is cut beautifully.

The First Lady, Michelle Obama is being touted as the new fashion icon. We have been following her every fashion move she makes and approving of everything she wears. Michelle embodies classic beauty, sophistication and timeless style. While I'm being completely enthralled into all of Michelle's monumental fashion moments I couldn't help but remember the political style icons before her. The style icons attached to political figures that had you forgetting about things like the G20 summit and made you more interested in what designer they chose to wear. Some of Hollywood's over-stylized actresses should take a lesson from these women.

Carolyn Bessette (1966-1999)

I still remember that Saturday morning when John F. Kennedy Jr.'s plane went missing off the coast of Martha's Vineyard. John's wife Carolyn Bessette was on the plane with her sister Lauren. Their plane crashed reportedly because of poor flight conditions. The plane was found days later. Carolyn was only 33.

Carolyn was voted the "Ultimate Beautiful Person"in high school and worked for Calvin Klein in the PR department. Carolyn was called the next Jackie and was intensely private. Her understated glamour and sophisticated nature was adored by the fashion world and she was hunted relentlessly by the media. Carolyn's life was over too quickly.
Her effortless beauty and polished look was elegant and she proved less is more.

After a long awaited arrival TopShop/TopMan is opeing its doors tomorrow for the launch of their first American location. TopShop was due to make its debut last Autumn but due to construction, flood, and even fire delays scheduling was pushed back. The grand opening kicks off tomorrow at 11am with Kate Moss and Sir Phillip Green. They are hoping to translate Topshop's success from London to the streets of Manhattan.

PR consultant Kelly Cutrone had to say this about Topshop's arrival “I truly believe it is going to turn New York upside down. This is going to be an injection of cool and energy that only the Brits can deliver to the sad retail world in New York. All the girls in NYC will trample and grind to get into that store; they live for girls like Agyness Deyn and Kate Moss.”

Kate Moss's ninth collection will also be launched tomorrow. It will launch the same day as the UK.

The 25,000sq. feet store is located on Broadway and cost a reported $20million.

Michelle Obama in London

The First Lady and her husband boarded Air Force One looking timeless in one her fashion favorites, Thakoon. Michelle Obama is in London for the annual G-20 Summit, despite heavy protesting and an uneasy economic climate Michelle Obama still dresses like the optimistic fashion leader that she is.

The white jacket with black trim is Thakoon and Michael Kors dress underneath. According to Style.com while the coat looks like "tweed, it’s actually a silk tulle that’s been flocked to resemble the classic fabric."

When the First Lady arrived in London, she apparently has been taking tips from Victoria Beckham and changed on the plane. Ready for awaiting photogs she wore a bright chartreuse yellow Jason Wu. Wardrobe change on Air Force One. We like!

By breakfast Michelle had met with Britain's Prime Minister's wife to visit a cancer center. Michelle wore high street retailer J. Crew with a double pearl necklace. Her cardigan is bead studded with a mint green pencil skirt.

Its only mid morning, we will be eagerly waiting to see what she will wear during the rest of her London tour. Hopefully we can see her wear a British designer. Obama in McQueen, we can only imagine. Rumour has it when she meets the Queen she may go sleeveless. Oh the shock!

And yes, the websites, the gossip pages, and all of that stuff have hurt my career – they’re like the Burn Books of Hollywood… but I really don’t feel like I should have to prove myself to anyone because of living out my college years in the public eye. She’s marketed as an entertainer, which is what she is. Not necessarily as, like, an artist. And I respect that about her, cause she doesn’t want to pretend.

The First Lady of America is gracing the cover of March's Vogue. On the cover Michelle Obama looks feminine, modern, and strong. She is the new standard for women of her generation and younger women to aspire to. Many First Ladies have been featured in the magazine but only two have ever made the cover. Michelle Obama being the second and Hilary Clinton was the first in December 1998. On the cover shot Mrs. Obama is wearing a magenta dress designed by Jason Wu. The same designer that made her white one-shoulder inauguration gown. Michelle is already being compared to Jackie Kennedy for her style choices. But Michelle is not Jackie and does not care what she wears, as much as we do.

In the article Michelle was interviewed by Vogue's editor-at-large Andre Leon Talley and photographed by Annie Leibovitz. The article focuses on what she will bring to the White House, she wants to open up the White House more to the public, she was raised on the south side of Chicago and does not believe in exclusivity or a members only attitude. "It's never "me" and "mine" and "some," but "we" and "our" and "all." The article also focuses on her first priority, being a mother, Michelle still wants to take her daughters, Malia and Sasha, to school every day that she can. "I like to be a presence in my kids' school. I want to know the teachers; I want to know the other parents," she said.

This is Vogue so of course they dished on fashion. This is Michelle's take on fashion: "I love clothes. First and foremost, I wear what I love. That's what women have to focus on: what makes them happy and what makes them feel comfortable and beautiful. If I can have any impact, I want women to feel good about themselves and have fun with fashion."

As much as we can see Michelle seems to love wearing beautiful clothes she is still very practical in what she chooses to wear. Michelle is not focused on fashion but she appreciates it. When she was criticized for wearing her black cardigan over a Narciso Rodriguez dress this is what she had to say about handling the criticism, "I'm not going to pretend that I don't care about it. But I also have to be very practical. In the end, someone will always not like what you wear—people just have different tastes. Some will think that a sweater was horrible, but I was cold; I needed that sweater!"

The First Lady personally picked her own outfits for the shoot, which does not normally happen for a Vogue cover. She paired designer with affordable pieces, which makes her relatable to the public by choosing accessible retailers like J. Crew. After interviewing Michelle, Andre Leon Talley had to say this: "She's so accessible, natural and normal. There's nothing affected about her. While most cover models have their clothes chosen for them, she doesn't need any help. She loves fashion and knows what works for her. She's never had a conversation with me about, 'What do you think?' or 'How did this look?' And I'm glad for that."

This probably won't be the last Vogue cover for Michelle Obama, but what is so apparent about Michelle Obama is that she is not trying to be some fashionista, but her clothes simply complement her personality and her goodwill. The First Lady is not only inspiring us to be a better dresser but she inspires us to be a better person.

Madonna for W Magazine: Divorce Never Looked So Good

Magazine sales are down but this will help sell a few copies. Freshly divorced and looking more glamorous than ever, Madonna proves to us she can and will always stir a little controversy.

This sexy spread was shot in a hotel room in Rio de Janeiro by famed photographer Steven Klein. The sexy 46 page spread titled 'Blame it On Rio' will be featured in March 09's W Magazine. The model featured with Madonna is already rumoured to be dating her, he is Brazilian model Jesus Luz, 22. They reportedly met on this shoot in December. Apparently, Madonna become so captivated when she first met Luz she invited him to join her on the remainder of her South American dates for her super successful Sticky and Sweet tour.
The pictures speak for themselves as you can see the sexual passion between them. Their chemistry definitely translates to the photographs.

The photos show Madonna looking seductive and beautiful in a few different dresses, she is even wearing a couple dresses designed by Victoria Beckham. Also seen in a vintage Dior wool suit, and looking gorgeous in a vintage silk gown. Madonna's lace gloves seem to be a trend through most of the editorial and a visible cross around her neck. Madonna seems to always flirt with themes of religion, as some may agree she is styled looking like a naughty woman of the church. The dress with the white trim around the neck and sleeves is almost nun like.

Luz is barely clothed in most of the photos, one image Luz is standing pool side while only covering himself with a towel as Madonna is spying on him, in another he is wearing black briefs laying on a bed as Madonna seems to be locking their hotel door. They share a passionate kiss in the hotel room and make this editorial a must look for everyone.

Madonna was just seen last week having dinner with Jesus in New York City, accompanied by two of her children, Lourdes and youngest son David. Sources say Guy doesn't think highly of Jesus since he is convinced this is a casual fling and is not thrilled this is happening so soon after the divorce, and has reservations since Jesus has met the kids so quickly.

Jesus probably won't be complaining of his new status since being linked to Madonna. He has reportedly dropped his modelling agency, 40 Graus Models, and recently signed with the more prestigious Ford Models. Supposedly he has raised his rates as well, he used to be paid $225 for a photo shoot, now he is asking for $100,000.

Madonna was last rumoured to be with Alex Rodriguez who is in the midst of his own controversy at the moment, admitting to steroid use, but it seems she has moved on quite well, to a much younger man. It seems Madonna is doing very well since her divorce. Looking good truly is the best revenge.

He's Just Not That Into You

The women of He's Just Not That Into You were out in full force last night for their Los Angeles premiere of their new flick, held at the Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Jennifer Aniston looked chic in a black pantsuit by Burberry with gold accessories.

But the one who stole the show had to be Jennifer Connolly. Connolly got her look straight from the runway from Christoph Decarnin's Spring/Summer 09 collection. Connolly looked divine in her emerald green mini dress and her jewelled shoes made it even more electric. How many celebs can even compare to the runway look, but Connolly is looking effortless as this dress seems to fit her so well. The prominent shoulders of the dress give this svelte actress structure and strenth in her figure. The shoulders giving the illusion that her waste is even more petite. I like that Connolly seems to be wearing something that she truly wants to be wearing. She looks comfortable in Balmain and her past style choices tells us she has a great eye for fashion forward pieces, or that she just has a brilliant stylist.

When Michelle Obama, now the Frist Lady, walked onto the stage for her husband's Inagural Ball, she looked more stunning and more beautiful then she has ever looked. She was wearing the gown designed by young talent named Jason Wu. Wu said he designed the dress with "hope, a feeling of newness, a dream like quality to the gown and making a moment of history".

Like everyone else that night, Wu was sitting at home eating pizza with friends and taking in this monumental moment. But what he didn't know until he saw the First Lady was that she was wearing his one-shouldered white gown that he designed for her. Wu had no warning, not even a hint that Michelle would be wearing his design. Wu was working with Ikram Goldman from Ikram in Chicago, to design a dress for Michelle for a formal occassion. The only memo he got was that the dress had to sparkle. Jason never had the opportunity to meet Michelle but when he finished the dress, he personally delievered it to Chicago. The dress laid on his lap during the entire flight. Wu recalled "there was no way I was checking it in." So when Jason was watching the Inagural Ball he couldn't believe his eyes when he saw Michelle wearing his one-of-a-kind gown.

This truly shows the kind of woman Michelle is and the kind of First Lady she will be. She could have picked anyone from Valentino to Armani, as she undoubtedly had all the fashion houses hoping she would choose one of their gowns. But she went with a young 26 year old designer that she knew, this moment would change his life. All this power in one dress, its incredible.

Jason Wu was born and raised in Taipei and came to Vancover when he was a boy. At age nine he learned how to sew, draft patterens and sketch. He later went to study fashion in Tokyo and finished his senior year of high school in Paris, where he realized his dreams of becoming a fashion designer. Next, Wu enrolled in the prestigous Parsons School of Design. Parsons alumni includes Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, Narciso Rodriguez, the list goes on. In January 2008 and July 2008 he was nominated as a finalist for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund.

Now, Jason is gearing up for Fashion week, his sixth show, and biggest one yet. He will have more press then ever before and be one of the hottest and most anticipated shows. The world knows who he is now and will be waiting to see what he will do next. Fingers crossed Michelle will be at Fashion week sitting in the first row at Jason's upcoming show.

The accessories were perfectly chosen.

The dress will be donated to the Smithsonian museum.

Gap has hired three top models for their Spring 09 campaign: Jessica Stam, Erin Wasson and Eddie Kilnt. The models look stunning and very all-american but can Gap please stimulate us just a little please. Gap is one of those places we all visit but never really buy anything from? Maybe I am just speaking for myself? They have incredibly boring clothes but all the basic staples a boy or girl needs. Gap has the money to hire and pay the most sought after models but their ads usually still come up flat and uninspiring. Maybe I am being too hard on good old Gap because they serve their purpose. Anyone from a baby to a Grandmother can be dressed from one single store which is pretty amazing. But do you really wanna shop where you can buy something for the entire family?

Kate Moss: model, style icon, muse, mother, drug addict. Call her what you will but there is no denying that Kate Moss has been one of the most successful and influential models of all time. She is 35 today which marks 20yrs since landing her first modeling job for The Face.

Kate Moss kicked off her birthday celebration with an epic four day celebration with her usual circle of close and chic friends. Moss started at the posh Dorchester Hotel in London at one her favourite restaurants, the China Tang. After a reported nine hours of drinking and eating with her mother Linda, and boyfriend Jamie Hince she left the hotel at 4am with a bottle of wine and glass with her silver Rolls Royce waiting for her. She returned back at her million pound flat to be rested for the following night as the party had just begun. The following day crates of vodka, beer and champagne were being wheeled into her home. Along with a pig on a spit, antique chairs and a mounted deer head. Yet again, Peta won't be happy with Moss's medieval theme. The guests were treated to a performance by Lionel Richie. Who knew? The guest list included Jude Law's ex-wife, Sadie Frost, Stella McCartney, Noel Gallaghers ex-wife Meg Mathews, and Davinia Taylor. These friends of Kate have stood by her for years, proving Kate has more loyal friends then most for the moment celebrities.

Moss who rarely gives interviews, still lands the most coveted campaigns today. She is the face of the Versace Spring 2009 ads, shot by Mario Testino. Moss will also be the face of Longchamp, which she has been since Spring 06. She will also be shooting the Spring 09 campaign for best mate Stella McCartney. Just to name a few. Kate is without a doubt giving the younger models a run for their money. So why unlike so many models that come and go, has Kate had the staying power that she does? Even at an age where most industry insiders love to write off any model when they get to her age. Kate embodies what we all strive for: eternal youthfulness. She continues to work and seems to get better with age and nobody seems to be getting tired of looking at her.

Kate Moss has staying power because not only does she have that je ne sais quoi quality but because she creates trends and seems to be ahead of the curve. From her skinny jeans, tights, ankle boots, vests and rock and roll disheveled look she has everyone from British school girls to grown women copying her style. Even fellow celebs seem to be inspired by her look, ie. Lindsey Lohan, Nicole Richie. It only makes sense that she created her own line for British retailer Top Shop. Her partnership with Top Shop has been hugely successful and doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Items have been known to sell out within moments of them going on sale.

Kate Moss’s life and image sells magazines, tabloids and fashion campaigns, so until she stops intriguing the public she won't be going anywhere for a very long time and it seems nobody is getting tired of her yet.
